A Long Day's Journey Into Night

I knew nothing about this play (other than being familiar with the title) until we went to see it. A highly recommended very depressing intelligent drama. The family is extremely well written and each of them expresses themselves so clearly and so intelligently. They are all very damaged. Not entertaining, but enlightening, and searingly uncompromising. The father of the family (James Tyrone) played by David Suchet with great insight. Not completely sold out, so if you are interested - go see it!

Jackie Mason

Mr Mason was indeed very funny, I enjoyed it immensely (even though I wasn’t so sure about it before I went) At Wyndhams.

Krapps Last Tape - Michael Gambon at the Duchess Theatre. Riveting, bitter and amusing. Getting old is not for softies.

Jerusalem

A fantastic piece of theatre. Does it get much better than this? Mesmerising and very moving.

Private Lives

Private Lives at The Vaudeville. Unusually, we attended the matinee. A gripping study of passion and relationships. Very amusing and well done.

The Elixir of Love

The Elixir of Love @ Colisseum London. ENO. The Lead, Nemorino, and his understudy were too ill, so the part was sung in Italian by another singer, Edgaras Montvidas, - to brilliant comic and dramatic effect. Enjoyed this immensely (and I didn’t expect to)

The Power of Yes

David Hare’s “The Power of Yes” at the National Theatre. A interesting story about the financial catastrophe of the last few years - the people who pick up the pieces when the markets collapse are not the people who have benefitted from the markets.
